I just received my new white Macbook with the Nvidia 9400m gpu. I can get the mini dvi to display with a DVI adapter, but the mini DVI to RCA will not work. The dongle lowers screen resolution, which tells me the laptop sees the adapter, but I cannot get the video to push out using RCA or SVideo.

The adapter works fine with a 2.66 iMac and an older 2.16 macbook, so it is not the adapter. Anyone have a work around for this issue?

As far as I know, 9400 doesn't anymore support "tv out", too old technology. Sadly I'm sitting at same boat but, its not end of the world.

Try the minidisplayport > VGA; DVI is digital, not analog. Component/RCA/S-video are all analog. Getting a VGA to (RCA, S-video, etc) adapter should work just fine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I'll have to do this. It's too bad because, as a teacher, I could do so much with the adapter:
- make training videos directly to a DV camera
- display short clips from my laptop to the tv
- play web clips

I don't always have access to a data projector, but TVs are easy to come by.

The MacBook white w/Nvidia has mini-DVI out, not mini-Displayport.
