9400m Macs - Will Mavericks increase its reserved memory?

This is a crucial question I have for deciding if I'll upgrade to Mavericks. I wonder if my good-but-old White Macbook will run Mavericks as fast as Snow Leopard. I have 8GB RAM and a 250GB SSD, but video memory is theoretically stuck on 256MB.

Will Mavericks unlock the firmware allowing it to get up to 512MB or something like this?

No. I have a Mac Mini with the 9400M, it still has 256 MB VRAM in Mavericks.
