Best External Battery?

What is currently the best external battery for the 3gs? will that work on the iphone 4? because we all know that it still probably wont last a day

I use the Richard Solo 1200 for my iPhone 3GS and love it. Not the fastest charge, but gets the job done and is small enough to carry around in my purse. It has saved me several times during long work-related phone calls and while traveling. I am hoping that I can continue to use it with my iPhone 4.

If you don't need it to plug directly into the phone, this one is awesome. I used it on a trip recently and kept it in my bag. At lunch time, etc I would take it out and set it on the table and charge my phone with the usb cable attached while plotting out my post-lunch plan of attack.

It's super lightweight and holds way more juice (4800 mAh) than any of it's competitors. The nice thing about this style IMO is that you can charge other devices like bluetooth headsets, cameras, etc that are USB-charger compatible.

If you want one that plugs directly into the phone, this one from Monoprice is very nice and a great deal. The drawbacks are that it doesn't quite "lock" into place while connected so it could fall out of the dock connector if you plan to use the phone at the same time. It doesn't hold nearly as much juice as the Satechi unit above, but still better than many competitors. It also obviously only works for products with a dock connector (iPhone, iPod).

I was using the Imax Power IMP-500 which was great, but it has stopped working for me twice now. Was warrantied once.

Just recently got the iLuv iBA200. It has a smaller capacity than the IMP-500, but it's half the width and thickness which is great. You'll need to use your own iPhone/iPod cable.

Ok so who has the Satechi 5200mah or New Trent 8900mah? and what do you guys think about it. I saw that the Satechi has a compounded interconnection battery which it says is more stable and longer life than the lithium of the New Trent. Thanks!!

I've had the New Trent, it was formerly known as IMAX external battery. You can search the forums for it. I've got mine for 2 (possibly 3 yrs ago) and it had been holding up just fine. Mine I think was only 5500mah. You should check it out.
