Since ATT Premier screwed up my order, I've resorted to calling local Walmarts to see which ones will have them. As you can imagine, the information from Walmart employees is all across the board. This stuff is priceless.

Post your best Walmart Employee quote about the iPhone4!

I'll start:

Walmart #1: "Are you callin' about that darn "G" phone?

Walmart #2: "We have two of them...errr...or we have two per customer. I forget."

Walmart #3: "Walmart has discontinued selling the iPhone."

Walmart #4: "We have two of them. They go on sale at 9am, but if you try to line up before 7am... he said he'll run you off!" Not sure who "he" is.

"We have plenty of the 8gb ones and they probably will be on sale either midnight or at 9am."

I'm going to that one for sure.

You found a Wal-Mart employee to talk to?

I call shenanigans. :D

The trick is to let it ring twenty times. If you reach the magic twentieth ring, a person who sounds like they just woke up will answer the phone. At this point, ask your question and repeat it at least three times or ask for a manager and repeat the process. Then and only then will you receive your magic Walmart Employee quote.

Good luck.

Haha. This is kind of irrelevant but a while ago I went to Walmart to buy my first iPod (iPod 5th Generation) and I asked where the iPods were and the employee said "We don't sell those". He took me to look at other MP3 players and while we were walking I saw an iPod and I said "What's that?". He said "That's and iPod." "How much is it?" "I don't know I just found it."

Ok so it's not iphone related but one of the funniest things I've overheard was at a Wal-Mart. The Wal-Mart employee was on the phone, "We're open 24 hours." wait wait wait "We're open all night." wait wait wait "WE NEVER CLOSE!" :)

after preliminary questioning . . .

me: ok, do you know when that truck might be gettin' in?

assoc.: hahahahahahaha

Conversation ended shortly thereafter.

Walmart #4: "We have two of them. They go on sale at 9am, but if you try to line up before 7am... he said he'll run you off!" Not sure who "he" is.

this one made me giggle so bad. co-worker sitting next to me gave me a very strange look.

Yea, not all of the staff is that bad. The young girl working the electronics department tonight was extremely helpful. She seemed to know exactly what was going on.

This is hilarious!!! I actually bought mine at Walmart, too. I called 3 Walmarts before I found one that knew what they were doing.

Walmart #1
Me: Are you getting the iPhone 4 to sell tomorrow?
WM: Uhhhh, I think so but you gonna have to call back and talk to the manager?
(I call in a few hours later)
Me: Are you going to get the iPhone 4 to sell tomorrow?
WM: Yeah, but we don't know how many.
Me: Ok, when will you begin selling them. I need to judge what time I am going to line up.
WM: Uhhh, 'bout 9 or 10.

Walmart #2:
No one ever answered.

Walmart #3 (i swear, from my other experiences, this particular one is the most redneck Walmart ever, BUT...):
Me: Are you getting the iPhone 4 tomorrow?
WM: Yes, we have 2 16g iPhone 4s and 8 8g iPhone 3GS; they'll go on sale at 8 am.
Me: Great, thanks! When do you expect the line to start forming.
WM: Well...we don't have anyone waiting right NOW, but I expect there to be a line to start very early tomorrow morning (the 24th) and it will be 1st come, 1st serve with no holding.
Me: Thanks so much! It was good to talk to someone who knows what they are doing.

The happy ending to this story is that I got to WM at 4 am, was first in line, and the other people to get one (4 more total) didn't show up until 7:30 am, so I got the 1st iPhone from this Walmart.

Oh, but the 3rd shift people had NO idea that there was even a new iPhone being released or some, what an iPhone was. I have to say, though, the people handling it at 8 am were ready and very efficient.
Me: I'm so glad you actually know

I've gotta say: I want an iPhone 4 really badly as soon as possible, but if I was walking through Walmart and watched them get a delivery of iPhone 4's, I would just pretend they didn't have them and continue my search. Yeah, I hate Walmart that much.

you boys are a rather civilized bunch compared to them stampeding baby mamas who bumrush our post-thanksgiving sales.
