Interesting video. I tried it out myself and it worked. It took a bit longer than touching that corner but he may be onto something.

Actually quite the contrary. Maybe it could just be that iOS 4 is doing something strange with the way it handles the data. This video just proves that "bridging" the gap on that lower left corner isn't the only factor, but covering the antenna in any way.
