Has anyone had gazelle NOT downgrade an iphone?

Hello,

I am in the process of my second transaction with Gazelle and I'm starting to wonder if they always downgrade the condition of iphones.

I just sent a phone marked as good because it had light scratches and scuff marks (matching Gazelle criteria) and they just emailed me to let me know that my phone's condition is "average" because:
Your item had a few light scratches on the back surface.

A year ago, when I sent in a new phone (Apple had done a warranty replacement several days before it was sent off) and Gazelle insisted it was only in good condition.

Do they always do this?
 
seriously????? That has to be the most obvious question I have ever heard. The reason is M O N E Y!!!!! The less they give the more they have.
 
I've used them twice and both times they gave me exactly the amount promised (one excellent condition, one good condition).
 
I actually just got my ok passed inspection from them two days ago for my 3gs. I marked it as good but in reality I thought it was fair but marked it good anyway because it had 5 scratches on the screen and a lot scuffs and nicks on the back. But to my surprise they agreed with my good condition. So im just waiting on $221 to be sent to my paypal account :D

Oh and mines was like 5 days before the 30 day window.
 
I've done eight transactions with Gazelle this year. Each of my first five*
transactions involved like new smartphones of various brands. Frankly I was skeptical at first since the price they quoted was high. However I had every bit of packaging & documentation since I bought them new. I like to buy lots of different unlocked phones direct from Hong Kong, test them for a month or two, then move on. Previously I used eBay or Craigslist, but Gazelle is so fast & easy, it's worth it to give up a bit of profit. Three of the eight transactions were laptops. All eight times they paid exactly what the said they would & I got the money in a few days. Very impressive & fast.*
 
I tried selling an iphone to them, and they downgraded from "good" to "poor" for no rea son , other than to stiff me out of money (sure, technically it's their money). No, thanks.
 
I just sold them a 3G marked as "good" and they did not downgrade it. Very good experience with them, actually. Of course, you can get more in other ways, but this was an easy painless process that worked well.

Same here. They quoted me $158 for it and that's what they gave me. I'm happy with it because I didn't want to have to sell it via ebay or craigslist.
 
I actually just sent two iPhones to Gazelle last week. Because of the 4th of July, they didn't get to Gazelle until the very last day the offer was good. I got an email today that my phones had been inspected and I was getting the full offer. They were both in perfect condition -- I got $204 for my 16gb and $330 for my 32gb.

How did you get that response from them? Was it in the original email they sent you saying they were downgrading it? Because mine was downgraded too, very close to the 30 day limit. And they only gave me a generic reason (that it wasn't as reported to be). I had Apple check it out and it had no marks at all (was always in a case with a face shield).

Because the value of these phones fell in this time period, I wondered if they would stay true to their first "guaranteed" offer.
 
It's a subjective assessment when they inspect the gear, but I'm sure there are certain parameters they go by. And it may depend on the individual doing the inspection. They have also been known to upgrade the condition on their own.

I listed my 3GS as perfect and got it. I was expecting them to downgrade it, because even tho there were no scratches or blemishes, it was obviously used with normal battery wear. Then I got an email saying I was one of the first 1000 people to send in an iphone 3GS and they were sending me a free screen protector or something.

From all this, it seems like they are getting more picky during Inspections they're getting more and more phones in.

Were both the 16 gb and the 32 gb in the same condition?

If so the increased resale value may make me swap my 16 gb i4 for a 32 gb!
 
I sent a 3GS in very close to the 30 day time limit and they gave me the "perfect" evaluation that I had submitted.

Phone was used for a year, but was pretty much perfect.
 
16GB 3GS sent in 5 days from 30 day expiration rated perfect verified by Gazelle as perfect $223 in route. Phone was used for a year.

Gazelle has actually upgraded one of my items in the past and paid me more than I was looking to get.

Yes, they were. I sold a 16gb and a 32gb in the past and it was about $100 difference then too.
 
They just accepted my 2 year old iPhone 3G. I put it through as perfect, it had pretty much perfect everything. Went through just fine. They are paying me $140 for it, so pretty much half of what I paid 2 years ago.
 
You should probably just sell it on eBay like Gazelle will anyway. You could probably get about 75% more yourself.
