Just thought of putting together list of things you should check on your new/replacement Iphone 4 before committing to it.

(Feel Free to add your points - can we make this sticky/wiki?)

1. Signal Attenuation Problem - its beaten to death - so just wait for case (or hold it differently )

2. Check on Battery Life - do a hard reset -full charge and see how long it lasts on your normal usage pattern

3. Camera-White Paper Test for GREEN BLOB - if your look anywhere like this - its problem

Biggest flaw of all... PROXIMITY SENSOR

I dare you to try holding your phone with your shoulder, if you can pull that off you must have huge, perfectly shaped ears.

Don't Forget...

Wi-Fi Connectivity (possibly when using WPA with hidden SSID causing frequent reconnectivity problems?)
Bluetooth Connectivity (and poor audio when connected)

This has happened with two different iPhone 4s.

Wi-Fi shows full strength signal and works very well if it connects.

Bluetooth sometimes doesn't connect to a Magellan Premium Car Kit that is only three feet away.

And don't get me started with the sync issues and occasional GPS teleportation to two blocks away.

mine is perfect so far except i just did the white paper test.... is this a flaw? Mine has a green blob. Can I return my iPhone for that or do they all have that...

add to your list - not in all iPhone 4s

Other things to check for:

severe yellow in some cameras, esp in low light, w and w/o flash
strong hiss in speaker, test it by making voice memo or hd video, note that it disappears with earphones
loose home button in some
some phones have severe battery drain (possibly due to connectivity issue)
faulty temperature warning gauge - either goes off when phone is cool, or doesn't go off when phone is hot

(this list is not meant to discourage anyone, just a list so people can check their phones to be sure they got a good one)

1. Nope
2. Nope
3. Nope
Pox sensor issue. Nope
Antenna issue. Nope

+1

no prox issue even when held on my shoulder

green blob is due to lighting. quick taking pictures of white paper under fl lighting and your problem will be solved! how often do you need to take pics of white paper any way? :D

Guess I have big ears ;-)

Two IP4s, not a single prox sensor issue ever.

Wifi with hidden SSID and WPA no problemo
BT rocks on 4 different BT devices
No camera issues
Signal strength with case is fine. Calls sound better and drop less than my 3GS

I just received my phone yesterday and as much as I told myself I wouldn't run it through all the "tests".....I did it. Mine has passed every test. Literally, I can't find anything wrong with this phone. I can't drop bars, I can't face/cheek dial, I can't get green blobs, BUT, I can say that I have a phone that is far superior to any other phone on the market.

End fanboyism.

I can pull that off and my ears are small!
Well, of course, they are perfectly shaped!:D

The only problem my iPhone has is the antenna issue. However, since I got my iFrogz luxe case the reception has been great.

I have the green blob, but everything else works great. I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of exchanging the phone just for that.

Yes!!

Second iP4. Prox issues with both. Reason for return of first one and now the new one is worse. From reading all the replies from peeople with no issues--I have dcided to try one more time! The phone is just way too sweet a device to give up on it. Everything else is so PERFECT!

Thanks guys!

Nope I have some of the issues Green Blob and Prox Sensor, but not enough to make me hate the phone, easily overcome.

Still iPhone 4 is best I on the market now IMO.

I tried a friends Motorola Droid X nice phone still not better then iPhone though.

Received phone 2 days ago
