98% fully charged

Did you try re-starting it? I sometimes find that the battery percentage is slightly off. Also you could try running it to dead and then fully charging it.
 
recalibrate it. Let it run till it dies, then recharge. Should get back up to 100%. If not, then go to Apple store.
 
the Geocaching app froze on me today and when I restarted the phone I went from 98% back to 100%. Try a hard restart.
 
i had this problem with my 3GS. id charge it overnight to 100% and in the morning id unplug to go on with my day and it would read 99, 98 or 97%. id try to re-calibrate it but it did nothing. it didnt do it all the time at 100%, but every now and then it did. i dont have this problem with my iPhone 4 though?

I also had this problem with my 3GS and doing a hard restart fixed the problem temporarily. When I got my 4, the 3GS went to my husband and it bugged him so we got a replacement phone for him. It shouldn't be doing that so apple will give u a replacement.
 
thanks for the advice, if it continues I will go the apple store :D Its since the latest update if that any help
