Hey everyone, I'm a long time lurker here, first time poster (when I post on apple sites it's usually been over at AI), was hoping someone here could help out with some info.
One of the 2 geforce 8800s in my '08 MP went belly up (garbled graphics then bye bye magic smoke!) on Sat. The other one and the rest of my rig are fine, but I'm going to need to replace that card (I drive 3 monitors with this machine). I'm tempted to pick up a radeon 5770, but can't find any current info on the graphics driver model in 10.6 to know if loading both nvidia and ati drivers at the same time causes the performance issues it used to.
I'd love to grab a 5770 and keep the other 8800 for CUDA work, but if I can't I'll probably replace both of the 8800s with a 5870 (cheaper than 2x5770, better for GPGPU work than a 5770+8800 and certainly better for GPGPU than *just* a 5770), but considering the cost... anyone have any info, tried it and benchmarked it, etc?
Thanks!
