so once i open my macbook pro retina from sleep, comes the log in screen.
and it takes about 3 seconds until i am able to type in my password in the box

from my previous MBP (mid 2010 13"), as soon as i open the screen, i am able to type my password right away without having to wait these 3 seconds

has anyone experience this? if so any solution?

I am experiencing this same thing with my retina macbook. Would love to know the cause.

Same thing here.

Pretty sure it's just all of the peripherals re-establishing themselves. My 13" 2008 model didn't do it but my 2011 11" Air did it all the time and now my 15" rMBP. So I think it's just something that has come along with OSX Revisions.

Update - my computer now takes between 10 and 15 seconds upon opening the lid before I can type my password (the mouse cursor is also not present until that time).

I'm not sure what is accounting for this. I have only normal programs installed - no strange background tasks. I have iStat menu going, and a special battery indicator and something that tells me what graphics card is being used. Could that account for it?
