Hello Everyone:

I am new to MacRumors. Decided to turn here for help with my mac pro 1.1.

Was having temp issues(error message) with the CPUs in my 2006 mac pro
had some fan speed ramp up episodes prior to this but, machine ran well
otherwise.

Changed out the original dual core Xeon 5160s for Xeon 5365 ALED 4 cores
Cleaned heat sinks with Arctic Cleaner followed by Arctic Purifier
Did same with "new" chips just in case(purchased used from Ebay)
Used Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease when reassembling

Cleaned entire inside of machine of dust- fans, everything
all put back carefully.

Tried to start, hear a "click" and there is quick flash of LED on power button and DIMM LEDs and nothing else.
NO- chime, fans, display, no light on caps lock or mouse.
DO get Red LEDs on "overtemp" CPU A&B on DIAG LEDS
Trickle charge lights when button is pressed but not LED 6,7, or 8

Fresh battery installed, power cord was good, changed out anyway still nothing.
Did SMC reset a few times- nothing
Did a PRAM reset too even though there was no boot up- nothing as well

DID NOT change firmware from 1.1 to 2.1 before I started, could that be the problem?
In all my research on the various forums there was no indication of having to do this
before changing out the processors. Maybe I missed it?

I would appreciate any advice and/or expertise someone may care to offer.
Looking to add more RAM and upgrade OS to El Capitan...if I still can.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Mark
