Its that time of the year again when Android fanboys come out of the woodwork (and to be fair, some iPhone owners too) to comment on how Apple isn’t innovating and pass comments such as ‘all they’ve upgraded is the camera’. To an extent they may have a point, but it prompted me to do some research. So I listed the upgrades from the 16 Pro to the 17 Pro followed by the Galaxy S24 Ultra > S25 Ultra upgrades and Pixel 9 Pro to 10 Pro.

iPhone 16 Pro > 17 Pro

50% more RAM
front camera got a huge upgrade
Rear camera upgrade
Upgraded Processor
New design
Better screen with less reflectivity and more brightness
Bigger battery
Vapour chamber
Faster wireless and wired charging (Added QI2)
Better memory encryption
More efficient wireless chip
Upgraded Antenna

Galaxy S24 Ultra to S25 Ultra

0.1 inch screen enlargement
Gorilla 1 > Gorilla 2 glass
New design (rounded instead of square)
Improved ultra wide camera
Upgraded processor

Pricing starts at £1,249 compared to £1,199 for pro max 🙄

Pixel 9 Pro > 10 Pro

Upgraded processor
Better display
Bigger battery
Faster wired + wireless charging (Added QI2)
Magnetic pixel snap system
Wifi7 + Bluetooth 6

Same entry price as iPhone Pro

Unless I’m missing anything here (it was a fairly cursory look across all three brands and I do have a slight (😆) Apple bias) it looks like Apple seem to have moved the needle a little more this year. I’d love your thoughts…
