Starting yesterday, when I turn my computer on, the monitor blinks as if it is idle, waiting for some movement from the keyboard or mouse. I have tried every configuration possible, and it still doesn't register that the devices are plugged in. The LED light on my mouse doesn't even work. The screen stays black because it is idle. Also, the keyboard and mouse work perfectly on my PC.

Also, my cd drive has worked intermittenly (sp, I'm sure.) for a while now. Sometimes when I open up the cover of the drive and press the button on the drive, it works. But lately, it has worked less and less. Does anybody have any idea what might be the problem?

I want to format this mac, but I need to get my files off of it first. I don't know what to do if I can't even get the mouse and keyboard to work or the screen to turn on. Any advice?
