A couple mods for the iBook clamshell

Hi! I've always loved the look of the Ruby iMac G3's, and I would love to get an iBook clamshell to look the same way. Also, I have a screen from a broken 12" iBook G4 that I could use to upgrade the resolution. Is there any advice on how to dye/paint an iBook clamshell the same color and upgrade the resolution using that screen?

simple remove the outside covers of the case rub off the paint until its clear using 90% alcohol and paint remover then paint it over with the ruby red paint

I think that's the natural color of the rubber so that probably wouldn't work, but thanks! Any chance this would work:

mabye I have never owned a clamshell so thats why I thought it was plastic
