I'm picking up an iPhone 3G 8Gb on Saturday, and I have a couple of questions that I wouldn't mind answered before then :)

1: I live in the UK and have an O2 pay as you go sim. From what I see, if you put that in the phone to activate it, it'll put it keep the number but upgrade it to an iPhone contract, is this right?

2: Does the iPhone have some kind of feedback for typing built in? Something like a type-writer-esq clack noise as you type.

3: Is it possible to use some sort of push service with my gmail account rather than signing up to mobileme?

Any help with these questions would be nice :)

Dunno on (1).

(2) Yes, settings -> sounds -> keyboard clicks; the silent/audible alert switch on the side must be set to audible for it to work.

(3) Generally no, but there are some workarounds like this: http://beaugiles.net/blog/2008/07/u...leme-alternative-with-push-contacts-calendar/

(Edit: sorry, wrong link)

Thanks for the quick response, mkrishnan

The gmail thing might be a bit of a kludge, but if it works :D
