* this pic below is a 14" ibook G4, which has an external screen running, while the built in lcd is deteriorating. Since the image at the external screen if fine, would this be an issue of the LCD it self or the gpu. (sorry about the picture, thats all i have)

* secondly if the issue is of the lcd, can i and will i be able to switch an lcd from an ibook G3 14'.

i am sorry that i am not providing enough details about the G4 model, while the G3 model is A1007. Juat trying my luck!
 
Based upon what I recall from your other thread, the GPU needs a reflow. An external display will not work
 
If the image on the external display is fine, then you most likely just need a new LCD. As for pulling one from a G3, you'd have to check the part numbers of the panels to see if they're compatible.

true, that is the G3 i am mentioning here. the pic above is a G4 which i was not sure if it was the gnu issue or LCD, hence me wondering if the G3's lcd will fit the G4...:(
