I'm quite happy with my default ATv, but I'm getting frustrated having to keep a computer running itunes running to stream my films. What's the simplest way to hack the ATv to simply allow streaming from a NAS unit that's on 24/7? And will I still see all of my meta data in the interface?

2ndly, is there a free way to create a patchstick from Windows?

I would advise hacking the atv using instructions from

wiki.awkwardtv.org

They have a section on how to do it in windows.

Also, I find that Boxee is a great solution to run videos from a NAS (has to be an smb share). It's a great interface and automatically scans folders and organizes files. I think it uses imdb to assign meta data to the files but don't know the technical details.

Hope this helps.

PM me if you need an invite for Boxee.
