I am sure that this is a newbie question, and I'll admit that I haven't done an extensive search prior to posting. I am a little unfamiliar with all of these terms as I really haven't thought to do any of these things until recently.
But I have a few questions concerning Jailbreaking and /or Unlocking my boyfriend's 3g and my Edge. We are planning on selling once we upgrade to the 4g. And it appears that jailbreaking and/or unlocking increases resell value.
My boyfriend's 3g is running 3.1.3, and I think the baseband is 05.12.01. From what I have gathered so far there is no way to Unlock this phone currently, or can I do a jailbreak to go around its current baseband? As for my Edge, it is also running 3.1.3 but I think its baseband is much older. I believe it's 04.05.04_G if that has any relevance. From my understanding this model is easily unlocked and jailbroken, but I am just concerned about baseband conflicts.
My final concern is if I should just wait it out for the iOS4 unlock to go with the iOS4 jailbreak. I can afford to grab both phones at launch, but obviously I'd like to list on Ebay as soon as possible. I am unsure what the value would be for these phones as the 4g launches. And I know that concern isn't relevant to this sub-forum, but your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
