A couple SSD Upgrade questions for my 17" MBP

I saw a thread asking for actual drive recommendations, so I'm not looking for that. Here is what I'm wondering:

- My current drive has Windows installed on a Boot Camped partition. Do I have to do a clean Windows install after upgrading, or is it possible to clone both the Mac AND Windows partitions when I set it up?

- I'm looking at a Samsung, but I hear for firmware updates, they have to be done in Windows. Can I just boot into the Windows partition to do this for the drive? I'm not sure how the bootcamp partition and firmware updates play together.

I have no experience with Samsung, but it seems like there is an ISO image available.
