A few iPad customization questions

I am looking to change the iPad logo on the statusbar in the top left. I tried adding .png's to the Springboard.app(I do not have a winterboard theme selected) but it did not change. Is there another directory to add to via SSH?

Also looking to change the wifi signal .png's but I cannot find the location.

Can anyone help me out?
