For the fun of it I really want to set up a VPN server with one of my old routers. I wanted to know if a setup like this is possible:

I'm completely new to this and would love to get some input. I'm not sure how VPN servers/routers work and I couldn't really find a simple map out there, but I figured if I plugged it directly to the modem and plugged the time capsule which connects to the rest of the network into the router it'd work out.
I just want to use the Linksys WRT54GS (running dd-wrt vpn firmware) as a vpn server, I don't intend on plugging in anything else into it except the time capsule. (or at least I'd want it to work out that way)
With a setup such as this one allow me to access the rest of the computers on the network behind the time capsule?
If that's a yes, will it allow me to access the airport express and the desktop behind the wireless repeater bridge?
If this isn't how a vpn works, will someone please explain to me the limitations of a vpn or the basics of how it works?
Thanks for the input!
