A folder "photo.jpg.download" appeared on my desktop

A folder "photo.jpg.download" appeared on my desktop - I dragged it into the trash, but it said
"The item “photo.JPG.download” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted."

- What does it do?
- Where does it belongs to?

I wish to take it away from my desktop.
- How?

Files with that .download extension are files that are in the process of being downloaded by Safari. It sounds like you tried to DL a large photo from a web site in Safari to the desktop.

Try quitting Safari then delete the file and empty trash. If the trash won't empty, logout then back in to your account and try again.
