A Free Alternative to Photoshop - but Easy to Use?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me out.

I need an application like photoshop, which is free and easy to use. I don't need it for manipulating photos or anything like that. I just want to add some text to photographs.

Thanks for any help or guidance. Much Appreciated.
 
GimpShop is free and is pretty much the same as PS to use. Not as powerful obviously, but pretty good.

For $60 there's Pixelmator.

For adding text to an image see if you can get a Skitch invite.

I'm going to download all the programs (free ones that is :D) and give them a go.

This should make it a lot easier. I've been using Word in the past. :eek:

Skitch is in Public beta now so you don't need an invite. For adding quick text to images for a blog Skitch is pretty great.
 
I guess it depends on what you mean by "easy to use", as there is always some trade-off between simplicity and functionality, but I do recommend GIMP regardless. Not necessarily the eaiest to use depending what you're tying to do, but quite powerful and effective.
 
I got pixelmator with the macheist bundle, I dont have enough for photoshop and elements 6 isn' out yet so I thought I would give pixelmator ago, I dont do much image editing but pixelmator is so easy to use and its just as powerful as photoshop.
