This past summer I went on a long trip. Actually I went to the World Cup in Brazil and I have a lot of pictures and stories to share. I wanted to post my experiences in the form of a blog combining writing with photos. I went looking for a free blog service but I didn't know which one would work. Tumblr is too linear for me. Meaning that you can't move things around and organize them the way you want to; all your posts are stacked up one after another. Flickr, I remember, a few years back, used to have a blog component to the site, but it's now gone. I guess I could still use flickr and just write descriptions under every picture, but that's still not what I'm looking for. Can someone out there recommend a free blog platform that's flexible enough to meet my needs? Thanks.

Merry Christmas all!!

Definitely take a look at WordPress.com - it's based on the open source software WordPress (as the name would suggest) and it'd work pretty well for what you're describing.
