So I'm on the road going upstate and we stop off at a gas station.I plug my phone in for about 20 min.Afterwards I take it back and all of a sudden it just freezes.I try to lock it but after it locks it won't wake up from sleep till maybe 10-20 seconds or even longer after I press home. Was like that all day (unless it was on airplane mode or had no service) .Was also freeing during regular use.Anyone ever have a similar issue?

Sometimes our devices "freak out" and need to be rebooted. Seems for no reason my 5s has done similar but once once in months. 99.99% of the time it is waiting on me.

It can be numerous things but unless it happens often, I would not worry too much.

Just enjoy.

Also was on Saturday and a for a few min yesterday but very short

I've honestly been noticing more and more such behavior with my i5. Getting annoying. It's like they plan the device to get kinda crappy EXACTLY 2 years after you get it on a new contract ;) *cough*
