I was wondering what is the fastest browser. I mean it doesn't use a lot of RAM and is fast around the web. I already have safari and firefox. My firefox though, has a lot of themes and pluggins and takes forever to start up. I still love it though. Break down:

Fast browser
Barely any RAM usage
Don't care what it looks like

Is camino good? I heard it was good. Anything better?

I initially used Firefox for a while when I first got my MBP, then I came to my senses and have been using Safari ever since.

Opera.

Not the best at rendering pages but the usability options are miles ahead of any other browser (without having to install bucketloads of extensions!)

Honestly, I find a problem with each browser that I use.

Lately I've been using Webkit and OmniWeb.

I use the optimized versions of FireFox. 2 is definitely better than the previous version. Still no speed demon, but works for me with the addons I use. Safari is faster usually, but doesn't have the features I can get from FF and it's addons. More sites seem to work with it too. Speed isn't everything, as IE was faster on my PC too, but I still used FF.

Camino is probably almost the best of both worlds, but last time I used it, it still wasn't as good as FF IMO.

Try them all, they're free.

camino=linux
safari=good browser
firefox-windows (aka crap)

camino=firefox-extensions+aqua widget
safari=firefox-single window mode-extensions+aqua widget-website compatibility+5% speed increase
firefox=safest bet.

when denouncing firefox, remember without the firefox's success, there would have no chance other non-IE browsers (unfortunately, safari is one of them) could survive the market where most website developers just optimize their site for IE.

Its always good not to forget where everything came from. safari? do u like Konqueror?

I would certainly argue the point that you're missing website compatibility with Safari.

Yes, you might have some issues with a few sites because Safari doesn't yet support Edit-In-Place features, but most of those websites still work just fine (and the ones that don't have lazy developers, IMO). Beyond that, I rarely if ever come across a website that I can't load using Safari.

So, rather than say -website compatibility, how about we say -some fancy features that aren't 100% necessary anyway?

technically safari is the fastest, nothing renders faster than webkit that I know of... but it's not nearly as powerful as gecko. Which is why I am die hard camino. Even if you are having a problem send them an email and you'll have a some sort of response within 10 minutes.

I would also recommend the 1.1 beta (it's very stable).

if you need other features...

Nonsense.

I agree with Clevin on this one, that the IE alternatives have a 20% share makes it foolish as a webmaster not to support them. Without firefox it's only 5% so why bother. And probably more people use Opera/Safari/Mac's too than would otherwise because of Firefox.

i guess I am using camino!!!
What one though? I have the full one. Whats better. The night build one. Or the beta one.
