one of the main reasons to wear an Apple Watch when training is to monitor and control the rate at which your heart is beating. BUT ... Apple Watch does not display the heart rate when you are reviewing your SPLITS and the SEGMENTS in the WORKOUTS section ...Look at the info that it shows ( NO Heart rate ...!! ) at segments ..

Apple Watch is mainy an Heart Rate Monitor , but , IT DOES NOT DISPLAY HEART RATE VALUES at Splits an Segments ...!!!!!

ANY SOLUTION ?

The heart rate graph does not show accurately the values for each split and for each Segment ... it must show the value for each split and for segment ...!!! at the right side of the average pace column in Segments and the average heart rate in a new column at the right side of the average pace in Splits...!!!

Skip what apple thinks should be shown for workouts (don’t ask a software engineer about fitness), pay a small amount for WorkOutDoors and never look back!

(Btw the developer of WOD is very active and very approachable on this forum too)

What the others have said re: investing in a different app.

Watch is recording, but your iPhone's Activities app is not displaying the information. So not really a problem with the Watch per se.

I just stumbled upon this post. Work outdoors looks like a great app. I cant figure out if it tracks swimming. Swimming is a big part of my exercise program. I had gastric bypass surgery last June (dropped over 100 pounds in weight since then) and swimming as well as walking is a big part of my exercising. Low impact, high resistance. Does anyone know if this tracks swimming?

Not yet, but I think @cfc has plans for something IIRC

The app does not include swimming yet. When I added indoor activities to the app I started simple with the intention of adding the more complex activities later on. Swimming requires lap detection, stroke detection etc. I coded it up several months ago and had it ready for testing, but unfortunately that was at about the time the lockdown started. This meant that I couldn't test it and neither could most other people.

So it will not be in the next version, but hopefully swimming pools will reopen here in the UK soon, so that I can test it and then include it in the following version. Sorry for the delay.

I bought the App. What a wonderful and util it is.
I calculated the Heart rate zones , first using the maximum heart rate based in age (72) and minimum heart rate value as zero, and then I calculated the zones using my resting heart rate ( 51 bpm).
I got two sets of zone values.
Based on Minimum =0 and maximum =148

Zone 1=74, Zone 2=88, Zone 3=103, Zone 4 =118,zone 5=133

Based on resting heart rate =51 ( my actual value) and maximum , based on my age (72) =148

Zone 1=99, Zone 2=109, Zone 3=118, Zone 4=128, Zone 5= 138

Right now, I am asking to the athletes using the app, which method is more appropriated to use in training ?

I want to thank Ian for his response to a question I asked him about te app and recommend all of you this great app very useful for training.

After doing a workout my splits and intervals do show my average heart rate.
