I was exporting some video in imovie and i saw this it said 196 F in smc fan control and also istat pro. It was constantly at or above 190 for like 30 min

i also went to hulu to watch an hd vid and this is my first post btw

That's like 88C...

You're fine, so long as the fans kicked up the kept things there. The Core2Duos can take upto 95-100C before they go into shutdown.

If you were doing both, then that's why. Hulu is a CPU hog due to it being flash based. HD Flash video can get my MB upto 68-70C or so if I leave it sitting on the floor in front of the TV when hooked up there...

...get yourself a good alum cooler stand and use it when doing these tasks...

About the only machine I've used that doesn't get really hot is my eeePC1000H Atom based netbook and I still use an external cooler pad on that if at all possible (its really well ventilated compared to a MB/MBP case).
 
No problem. Make sure you use it on a hard surface that allows for some
ventilation. I don't think the "cooling" stands are worth it.
