I am writing this after reading all the posts on the thread “Is anyone else getting sick of Apple? “ I am disappointed but expected things to change after Steve died. I also expected not like the change. That being said I have been with them since 1986 and could imagine jumping ship now.

I think the people on forums like this get caught up on all the techie stuff, processor speed, how much RAM, what kind of RAM, dead pixels, etc. I think the bulk of non techie people who are the majority of computer users just use it. I have many friends and family who’s computers/phones are exactly the same as they day the bought them. They never update them or anything until something happens that forces them to.

They know just enough about their devices, whether it be windows/mac or android/ios to get their mail, get on facebook or see their grandchilren’s pictures.

They have the device they have because someone close to them kids/friends told them to get that device. They have loyalty to any company.

Switching from one OS to another would be catastrophic for them. Actually it would be for me to. I am Mac person but most of 30 year career using computers I had to use windows. So I can manage being on windows, I can’t say that I can do that with android though. So switching to android because they have some feature that ios doesn’t have it not going to happen. I commend the many people on this forum who post about moving to windows or to android after years I have using Apple products. I can’t imagine it.

Honestly, I think it's going to be a possibility, for the most part, for the 20 somethings and below because they are more committed to the apps than the OS itself like a lot of us older people are.

Lots of people now have SmartCast, Chromecast, Roku, FireTV, etc in their homes aswell. And if not any of that, they have been using their cable TV's software for years now. If there was that little window where Microsoft was able to sell loads of Nokia Lumia 520s/a few others to non techie people, there's going to be another for something else to come. We actually already got that again with the Amazon Alexa devices that came out of nowhere even.
