I have a MacBook Pro (old desing) and today when i got back to school and opened my laptop, to my horror i saw a hair (about a third of an inche long) who appear to be stuck somewhere in the screen itself. (if i look closely, the hair seem to be like between the LCD and the LED Backlight.)

It is really annoying.

I plan to go see the Apple Genius eventually, but right now the timing isnt right since its the end of the semester. I will probably wait for end of next week or something like that.

So, my question is : Do you think that the Apple Store will make a repair for that ?

It's more about curiosity, because it annoy me and i really can't afford to go to the Apple Store in the next couples of days.

Also, i got my LogicBoard replaced (the GeForce 8800 problem) about 2 weeks ago and when i came home i also noticed a "stuck pixel" (always green) that wasn't there before the repair and now this. I also have AppleCare, so no problem about warranty.

Anyway, i also want to express the fact that i am really pissed off that i may have to lose my laptop for 2 weeks for the third time since i bought a little more than a year ago.

I had the very same thing happen. Took it to my local Apple Store and the Genius took it in for a free screen replacement. He told me there is no way for the hair to get in after manufacturing. This I doubt very much, but I was not going to argue.

They had a display in stock and I had my computer back in two days!

FYI, it was not even 8 months old and still under original 1 year warranty.

I would take it in or call Apple and explain the situation.

Good luck!

I had the same problem. About 2 inches from the edge of the screen on the upper left side. I tried 'massaging' the screen to loosen the hair. Didn't work. You also have to be very careful when doing this. I wouldn't reccomend it anyways.

I took it to the apple store and a genius removed the hair in 10 seconds. Used some compressed hair to blow it out. Replacing the screen is obviousl the last option.

Try compressed air and save yourself a trip to the apple store.

I have a similar problem, only I seem t have a small piece of dirt up inside near the bottom of the screen. its just visible on my dock, but when I have apps such as blender open it actually distracts from potentially important numbers. The MBP is not in warranty at all, can apple do anything?
