Ive had my rmbp 15'' for a few months now and it doesn't show any signs of image retention while normal use.
I ran the ir test on marco.org a few minutes ago on full brightness, and after 10 minutes I switched to the grey background and I could see the grid faintly.
It would be nice if someone could run the test and post the results.

Sounds like you have the LG panel if you have rentention.. I have a mid-'14 Macbook Pro 13" and did the test and went 20+ minutes to make sure and zero rention, which probably means i have a Samsung panel. Honestly I wouldn't sweat it because the LG panel supposedly has better white balance, contrast and more nits (brightness).
 
Yeah, it's an LG display. That image retention thing is my only concern with it, the colors are great.
