I have a new 2012 15" MacBook Pro. When the battery hit its 12th full cycle, it officially went to 99% health which got me thinking: how does that compare to other MB's/MBP's?

I think mine started at 99%. To put you at ease, I have about 400 cycles and I'm still at 90%. These batteries are pretty impressive.

It is perfectly normal if your battery health (maximum capacity) is more or less than 100%, even when brand new, or if it fluctuates up or down over time. For further details, read the CHECKING STATUS AND HEALTH section of the following link.

The link below should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you take the time to read it.

Mine's at 83% even though only 297 cycles, a far fetch from Apple's acclaimed 80% at 1000 cycles... I'm not impressed...

Edit: Now my battery health is at 100.6% after 2 minutes from posting this.

I wouldn't obsess too much over the battery. Just use it and let it discharge once in a while. It fluctuates, it may display 100% again tomorrow.

I'm @ 20 cycles [ ~ 1.5 months ] on my rMBP and it's at 100.2%

It keeps fluctuating between 100 - 98%

Take it to an Apple store and tell them. They'll give a new battery free of charge
That's only true if they determine the battery is defective, and only if it's still covered by warranty or AppleCare. Typically, they won't even consider it until the health is below 80%.

26 cycles and at 102% of capacity. That said, there have been times it has gone down to 100% of capacity and then back up to its current level of 102%.
