I have a new 2012 15" MacBook Pro. When the battery hit its 12th full cycle, it officially went to 99% health which got me thinking: how does that compare to other MB's/MBP's?
It is perfectly normal if your battery health (maximum capacity) is more or less than 100%, even when brand new, or if it fluctuates up or down over time. I think mine started at 99%. To put you at ease, I have about 400 cycles and I'm still at 90%. These batteries are pretty impressive.
I'm @ 20 cycles [ ~ 1.5 months ] on my rMBP and it's at 100.2%
It keeps fluctuating between 100 - 98%
The built-in batteries in the newer Mac unibody notebooks come pre-calibrated and do not require regular calibration like the removable batteries in older Apple notebooks.Have you calibrated yet? if not thats great.
Mine's at 83% even though only 297 cycles, a far fetch from Apple's acclaimed 80% at 1000 cycles... I'm not impressed...![]()
That's only true if they determine the battery is defective, and only if it's still covered by warranty or AppleCare. Typically, they won't even consider it until the health is below 80%.Take it to an Apple store and tell them. They'll give a new battery free of charge
