I cruise used boards for 2014 and 2015 MBP 15s and see quite a few for sale though I'm surprised that so many are dealer sales. It seems that they buy them up from companies or individuals or maybe take them in as trade-ins and then clean them up and add a 90-day warranty and charge a fair amount. They seem to be lingering for sale for quite some time though.
I think that the reliability problems have driven people to look at these models but a lot of people don't like the idea of buying something four to five years old and spending over $1K for it. At any rate, these seem to be sitting on the market for longer than they used to so it might make for some better deal-making. I have my eye on a 2015/2.8/512/Discrete at a dealer but I think that I can get a much better price from an individual sale. I noticed a 2014/2018/1TB/Discrete for quite a bit less and may make an offer on it.
The other downside of buying from a dealer is that they charge sales tax. I talked to one and he'd do a deal without sales tax if I paid with PayPal - he'd charge an extra $20 - maybe a PayPal fee. I offered cash and he said come down and we'll work something out. It's a long drive for me though, so I will likely just ask for his best cash price.
At any rate, if you're looking for a 2014 or 2015, and can wait or bargain, then this may be a good time. The stores have carrying costs and they may have picked up a lot of these just when they are getting less attractive.
