I think it would be a bad move away from the high tech brushed aluminum look that mac's are known for.

They've only recently been known for a brushed aluminum look. Before that they had a white plastic look; and before that they were known for their multicolored 'gum-drop' look; and before that their 'bondi blue' look; and before that they were beige boxes for over a decade.

They're a bit overdue for a completely new design.

Don't care what the back looks like, just give me a matte screen.

Like a number of other posters, I think the best we can hope for this year is a spec bump. The redesign will come sometime next year.

You say you don't care ?

So you would be happy with that :

??

I actually have a similar monitor to that. It is being used on my wife's Mini. But the back is against the wall, so all you see is the matte screen. :)

Hahaha!! You have literally made me laugh out loud with that picture. I have to agree that the machine's overall design matters A LOT. I actually didn't 'need' an iMac but the only reason I got it is because I love the way it looked on my new all-glass desk. I even positioned my desk/iMac so that the back is the first thing you see when you walk into my home office. If my iMac looked like that Dell, then, no, it would definitely be facing the wall!

How can you compare that to this? ;)
