A New MBP Docking Station!!!! Pics!!

well, sort of, haha. sorry for those who had high hopes

i was so close to buying a griffin elevator but i just saved myself 40 bucks
i know it looks getto as hell but honestly, the laptop hides everything and plus im in a college dorm so the furniture here is ugly anyways so no point in having 'nice stuff' here. maybe when i get back home, ill make a better box or buy a griffin elevator

as for the 'docking station' im using the usb extender to connect to my usb hub to connect to my mx rev, ipod connector and 4pin? usb? for camera

i just realized...

its funny how i can afford a 2000 dollar laptop
but not manage to pay 40 bucks
 
Heh, hit up your parents, they have enough money to send you to UCD they should be able to buy you a lappy stand hehe


really though if you made that same thing out of some nice wood it would look good
 
On a slighty more serious note...that monstrosity does not look sturdy at all. I'd be scared for your MBPs life in the event of an earthquake. :)

Hmm.. looks "kind of" ghetto yeah.. :p

But you gave me a good idea, I'll probably build something like that when my MBP arrives - but in real wood and paint it and stuff.. Maybe Aluminium instead of wood. :)
 
I will donate toward a Griffin Elevator if you make this thread never happen.
 
I had to knock up a quick ghetto sleeve because I realized that the new one is 1/2" bigger than the old one.

I like it! Might do that as well, when I get the next cardboard box. Currently I use two boxes of juice as a laptop stand :D Needless to say, it's really messy with all the cables lying around.

hey! that gap in the front could be used to hold open a book for study
mark that as a "feature" and charge more!

buy some beech veneered plywood to make it with, then stain it
it could be real classy for your glassy! quick help me think of a way to fit in SASSY too!
 
this thread is freakin awesome.... not gonna lie. i might go find a box and do the same thing for my new macbook...:eek::D cheap and if you make it right you probably wont even see it!
 
sad part about that ghetto setup is that he could probably put a patent on it and make millions just because it's an Apple accessory. lol

I don't need to calm down. I simply voiced my opinion, which has every bit as much merit as any other opinion in here. The thread title is deceiving, leading people to believe there's a new piece of hardware available, when it's just some college kid screwing around with cardboard, like a 5 year old. If you don't like my opinion, voice your own about the OP's thread, but back off of criticizing mine!
