Someday, someone will just make a nice, powerful multi-IM client with various plugins for all the services we need. I like iChat because you can send screenshots, but I also have MSN/Y!/ICQ people, so I use Proteus or Adium. Both aren't quite finished, so I'm out of luck.

Very frustrating.

Because it has a lot of the features of MSN 6, and since Microsoft is too lazy to make an MSN 6 for Mac, then this is the best we've got. I downloaded it; it's not too bad. I don't use MSN much anyway but aMSN looks very similar to the official MSN Messenger.

i think there should be an app that combines email and instant messaging. think about it. it would be so cool. combining 2 things would be great.

Great MSN client

This is the best MSN client out there. Now if only they would have video/audio chat.

Gaim is a great instant messaging client as well but it doesn't have that many features. But it supports a lot of networks, sort of like Fire but better. To bad it's not available for OS X.

With iChat and aMSN, I'm set, for now.

I can't stand to look at aMSN. What's with the interface? It looks like an app on windows trying to use OS X buttons.

I didn't know it was possible to make a UI like this in Mac OS. The creator would have to go out of his way for it to look this bad.

I didn't even bother signing in, I've seen enough.

Ok from what i understand this is a port of a PC application and the OS X interface we're seeing is a skin. He didn't make the interface native.

I don't know why anyone would want that?

Skinning is such a PC thing. I don't need a skin when I have a great and NATIVE UI.

well....

I don't know- I agree, I hate the interface. It's too much like MSN Messenger 4.7 for Win. Y doesn't the MacBU release a v of msn for mac that has the msn messenger 6 features? Maybe they'll be in msn messenger for mac 4???? anyone know? Also, even tho i hate this, does anyone know if it lets you see display pictures from win computers?

Caleb:p

Edit: fixed a typo :copmuters to computers :p

aMSN is written using an Aqua port of TCL-TK. Until someone can be bothered to come up with a carbon port, that's as good as it gets.

This application has good support for proxies - which is why it is ace for people stuck behind corporate networks.

Adium 2 is on the way - that will be a kick ass IM client. http://www.adiumx.com
