This goes out to the non-Developers that thought they could illegally download 4.1 and install it early on their iDevices.

When you install iOS 4.1, it verifies with Apple's servers first. Apple probably has a list of all of the devices that have installed 4.1. Info about your device is checked with Apple before the update continues.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple locked you out of your phones soon.

Judging from those of us that have installed all the GM builds prior to the official release all the way back to the days of the first 2.0 build, I think we will be okay.

Not going to happen. Millions of people installed the 4.0GM a full 3 weeks before release, and that was a major upgrade. Apple has better things to do than worry about people enjoying their software on their devices one week early.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. I installed 3.0GM way back when it came out and never had an issue.

1.) why do you care?
2.) you have no basis to say that Apple would lock anyone out of a GM seeing as they have never done so in the past.

Everyone carry on.

I'm not saying you'd get in trouble, but I doubt Apple doesn't know about it.

You're right though, they probably won't lock your phone, sorry about that.

I'm just saying that you're not going unseen.

Apple will not lock anyone out, it will actually help take the load off from the download and activation server on 4.1 release day.
What are they going to do even if they notice?

GM = Gold Master = Official release when 4.1 is gone to the public

I don't see how this is 'illegal'.

Pwahahahaha! Whatever.
