Currently, I have a free dot.tk web address, which redirects to my .Mac homepage. I'd like to buy my own domain name, just so I can have my site.com instead of my site.tk.

So, if I were to register a name from, let's say Go Daddy, do I easily set it up to redirect to homepage.mac.com? Is it more complicated than that?

Thanks for your help.

I would like to recommend mydomain.com, then can handle your registration and redirection no problem (in a few diffent ways). They don't have the best price but $8.50/yr isn't bad.

http://www.mydomain.com

You can also register with Go Daddy, but then you point your DNS at mydomain.com's name servers for the redirection. I just figure since MyDomain offers the redirection stuff for free, that I register my name with them so they get something out of the deal.

Nothing against the above posters proposed registrar, but I wanted to chime in that dotreg.com (maybe cheaper than the above, but I don't remember) and Register.com (way more expensive) have both been good to me over the years.

Good luck.

I use GoDaddy for the purpose you're proposing.

The only complaint I have is that masking (i.e., it's supposed to keep people from seeing the real address and display only my chosen vanity address) is spotty at best.

So, you're saying that once in a while I'll see the long and ugly homepage.mac.com yadda yadda yadda address? I think I can deal with that.

Right now, with dot.tk, it maintains the domain address on every single page-even pages you navigate to from my site. So by clicking on a link to Apple on my site will leave my domain address as the URL, even though you now are viewing apple.com As long as that doesn't happen, I'm good.

And it's still a little sticky as to which domain registrar i choose. Are any of the one's previously mentioned OK?

Thanks everyone!
