hi all, i have thousands of photos saved on my synology NAS and I access them from various mac's but they are painfully slow to load. I have a cache ssd in the synology raid which helps but they're still nowhere near as fast as if they were saved locally. Does anyone know of a photo viewing app that will allow me to scan the library and create previews for thumbnails and also maybe include some sort of search functionality like google photos does (so where you can just type dog and it'll show me photos with dogs in them).

Thanks!

NeoFinder 8 (https://www.cdfinder.de/) can create a thumbnail library for a volume, folder, etc. It's a one-time process that can take a while depending on the requested thumbnail size (default is 128x128), but searches afterward are fast. It can do pattern searches similar to your "dog" example, after some training, I think, but I don't have much experience with that.
It also has great mapping functionality for images with GPS coordinates, can find unique and duplicate images in multiple libraries, etc. I have 5-10K photos and use NeoFinder a lot.
Another useful app is FastRawViewer 2 (https://www.fastrawviewer.com/) - very fast browsing of many and large images. Handles RAW photo files more quickly than other apps in my experience. But, I don't think it creates thumbnails. More for browsing, culling, etc. I see it's on sale until Sept 14.

fantastic thanks so much for the info will check them both out now. really apprecite your reply
