So, on the 16th, I orderered the 2.53 ghz version of the macbook pro, but I configured the harddrive and bumped it up to 7200 rpm's, thus making it a BTO.
Well, I checked the status today and it still wasnt ready for shipment, so I called apple and told them I wanted to cancel my order, since my local store had the 2.53 ghz version in stock (I know I would be losing the 7200 rpm hdd, but I was really impatient!).
To my surprise, the woman offered me a discount if I kept the MBP that I ordered. She checked her computer and found a promo that knocked 150 dollars off of the price tag!. Combined with the discount, I am now paying $2104 for a 2.53 ghz version of the MBP! What a sweet deal! I couldnt pass it up

Sounds like a sweet deal. I ended up paying 2786 for the 2.8 with the 7200rpm 320gb drive. That is with 10% tax. If that was an after tax price it sounds like a killer deal.
