Why is there such a gap on the top and bottom of pictures I take with my phone? Has every iPhone had this gap? I thought pictures taken with the iphone filled up the whole screen.

On my phone, this occurs when taking the picture in "landscape" orientation, but then viewing them in "portrait" orientation.

Meaning you took the picture with the phone rotated sideways, but you're viewing it in normal position.

Rotate the phone 90 degrees left or right. Now look at the picture.

The picture was taken in portrait mode. I never use landscape. I expect the phone to fill the screen with the image that I've taken with it. I suppose I am asking too much. Lame.

Also, instead of making a phone shaped like a ladder, Apple should have made it a little wider as well. A few millimeter's would make a nice difference.

Thats the way it is - you bought it. (well maybe someone gave it to you)

My comment may seem rude - but it certainly is true.

pictures are not taken in 16:9 there there are bars just like when you watch hd movies on a 4:3 screen

Indeed, I did buy it. I simply came here looking for an explanation, and the post below yours gave me one.

Rude it was not.

And why not give the option to select 16:9 photos or 4:3 photos.

All new cameras have that option.
