I am having a bit of an issue with my newer iPhone 13 Pro Max. I know this is a higher end phone with a lot of RAM so I’m surprised to have this issue.

I use an app from Square credit card processing company called Invoices. I use it to write up estimates and invoices for customers. It doesn’t seem like a very in-depth app that would use a lot of RAM or power, but I have no way to know for sure.

What I do know is that when I swipe to a different app, such as Gmail to copy a customers name so I could swipe back to the Invoices app to paste it, sometimes the estimate is gone and the app refreshes to its home screen.

The same thing sometimes happens when going from this app to a browser to look up a price of something.

Is there a way to avoid this? It seems to be happening just as much now with my iPhone 13 Pro as it did with my base model iPhone 11.

For what it’s worth, this morning as a matter of general maintenance I swiped all of the apps out of the app carousel to close them and rebooted the phone. And this refresh issue happened only hours later.

For an experiment, before launching your Invoices app, force quit all suspended apps first.
Also check in settings that Background Refresh is set to ON for that app.

I used an iPhone 6 for years and it only has 1GB of RAM. If I followed the method above, rarely would an app reload after suspending it in the background for a while.

I checked in Settings/Background Refresh and all apps are turned on, including the Invoices app.

I could try removing all of the background apps as you mentioned, but if that works then that would mean I would have to do that every time I use the Invoices app?

There are “RAM usage viewer” apps available for free in the App Store. The one linked below can show you how much RAM is currently in use and how much free RAM is still available.
It’s interesting if anything.

OK, I’m going to try what you recommended when I get back to it tomorrow.

This is just so depressing because I will write out long estimates with a lot of information and then lose everything if I have to switch to another app.
