A question for someone with good 1980's-1990's snacks knowledge.

Okay. There was an international food market near my house that was closing down. To empty the stock out, they had everything like half off and buy one get one free. So I find this bag of cheezy popcorn with the cheetos cat on it. But it didn't say cheetos, it said Chester. At this point two questions popped into my mind, "Who's Chester?" and "How old is this popcorn?". Chester is the cheetos cat apparently. Does anybody know when cheetos stopped labeling him as Chester? Heres a picture of the bag.

All I'm really looking for is a date. A year when this crap was made.

Here's some wikipedia info. I can't say if the popcorn is good or not, but the Cheetos Cheesy Masala Balls sold in India sound really tasty.

You might sure it's made by the Cheetos people and not some cheap knock-off.

Yep, that's Chester Cheetah, and Chester's Popcorn is a Frito-Lay product. Still being made as far as I know.

The bag says "99 cents", and it looks snack size, so I would wager it's fairly recent.

I work in a supermarket, and that I believe is actually a new product. I hang tags sometimes, and had new tags for that a few months ago. Like someone said with the pricing and bag size it is deffiently not from the 80's . Also, if it has nutrition facts on the back (which I think is pretty probable) it was at the very least produced after 1994.

God, that sounds good!

I remember commercials when I was a kid with the Cheetah, and he was referred to as Chester the Cheetah in numerous commercials. If the packaging ever had his name on it, though, it was incidental (like a minor blurb at the bottom in line with an advertising campaign).

Yep, they sell the hot-cheeto-esque counterpart at my school under the name, "Chester"
