So .... I now have an Air and I still have my 16 Pro.

I've ported the number over to the Air so the 16P is just SOS on Wifi. Both phones on iOS 26, both on the same apple ID.

As far as I can tell I have notifications allowed equally on both phones but only the 16P seems to be announcing them.

What should I check? Feel free to assume the most basic things lol "Is the phone on?", just let 'er rip.

what is the apple account ID that you have used to sign in to both devices ?
if you used yr mobile fon number to sign in to both devices than it might be causing the problem??
notifications that don't use yr mobile number should in theory be coming to both devices if the app allows it to be used on multiple devices. but notifications that rely on yr mobile fon number, for example, Calls, should only be coming into yr Air, ofcouse.

Which notifications, or are all of them not working?

By "announcing them" I assume you mean showing up rather than being spoken out loud.

I have the same setup (my old iPhone 11 is now Wi-Fi only) and things work fine. Banking apps only work on one phone at a time but the rest are ok.

Including things like texts, mails etc.?

Do you know about shortcuts? If you do, create one to just send a notification to see if it works at all.

Otherwise, apart from going into notification settings, then focus mode settings, then doing a hard reboot, I'm out of ideas 😁
