Can the M1 Mini be powered through the thunderbolt port?

I'm still waiting for the delivery of my M1 Mini, but I ordered a new monitor to use with it and the monitor can deliver up to 45 W through the TB port which should be enough for the M1 Mini.

(I'm guessing the answer is "no", but I had to ask the question)

No, it can only be powered through the powercord included in the box.

Okay, I had to expand this question...

I am using a Caldigit dock with a TB3 connection to power my 16" MBP and for data.

With the Mini, this setup would not work?

The Mini has an internal PSU supplied via a dedicated power cord. It does not use a USB-C port for power, unlike the laptops. You might still be able to use the dock for extra ports, but not for power.

That is very interesting. Thanks for that information. I hope can power my 46" monitor with the TB3 connection I still have to use in addition to the power cord.

Let's make this simple, ok?
To run the Mini, you have to connect the power cord and plug it into the wall outlet.

Don't do that, and it ain't gonna run.
Kabish...?

Can we make it more simple and not be rude?

That was not necessary.

I think before you even bothered to chime in the question was already politely answered and understood.

Kabish...?

I think you already got the answer you needed, but in case you didn't, I'll chime in. You can use the dock with the Mac Mini, but you can't use it to power the Mini like you can on a laptop. Only the laptops can be powered direct from USB-C. But you will still be able to use any kind of port expansion feature the dock might have.

Thanks!

I mainly need the dock to convert TB3 connection to display port so I can run a widescreen monitor.
