I'm looking to get X11 and openoffice. They are both large files and 56k sucks. I was hoping someone with a fast connection would be willing to DL it and burn it for me. I will pay.

i would do it for you, but only if there isn t anybody else wanting to do that.
Shiping takes awefully long from europe to the us...

mike, there might be some people willing to burn a copy for you, just like some people do with Linux. In the event that both medea and dialectro are both unsuccessful, you might find someone who might elsewhere. just so you'll know...:)

I've started to distribute OpenOffice.org on CD-R because many people don't want to go through the trouble of downloading the software. I distribute both the compressed package and the decompressed files so that it can be installed directly from the CD. It's a good incentive for people to try the software.
Of course, I had to download the Windows, Mac, and Linux versions of the software with my 56K connection. It took about two days, but this works out really well for people who don't have a dedicated connection or who can't use their connections for this purpose.

Can't you go into a Libary in the US and download it or something, then burn it on to CD or put it on Zip? You can at my local libary in London.
