i have a phantom drive-spinning problem.

my drive(s) shut off after not getting used even though it isn't checked to do so in energy saver.

riddle: solve this to prevent it happening again,

OR

come up with an automation that automatically triggers the drive every 45 minutes so that it constantly 'stays awake'

thanks!

Hmmm. Silly question, but are you sure that they're shutting down? Are they just being quieter because the drive heads are being parked? Or do drives do that any more?

On my P(iece of ) C(rap) the drives frenzy when they're being accessed, and the fans go into overdrive, etc.

Could it be your fans that are shutting down, or slowing down? I know that my machines make more noise in Summer than in Winter.
