So for anyone using MPX graphics but using Displayport monitors, and having their machine at a greater distance than Type-C to Displayport cables (my screens are at the end of 7m DP cables), I have a tale to tell...
So it's been a fraught few weeks trying to figure out what's been glitchy with my system - booting up with the desktop wallpaper reverted to the Ventura default (remaking 3 displays and 7 spaces for all of them, all with different specific colours and images ceases to be fun VERY quickly). Or waking from sleep, and my main display not being immediately found, and watching the displays juggle, and rescan, and the login field jump from screen to screen, and then have all the displays settle correctly, to find palettes mushed back onto the main screen, it's been frustrating to say the least.
Amongst the troubleshooting, an entire reinstall in place of Ventura, but that didn't solve it.
I should note, part of this problem may relate to the fact my main display has slower firmware than the other two - it's slower to wake / power up the backlight etc when a signal is received, so despite being on TB Bus 1, when the system boots the boot screen is on an older, faster reactng display on Bus 2.
Anyway, [ ] me, it's a hardware problem... On a hunch, I replaced the Type-C to DP adapter on my main display, with a newer, more advanced model.
Problem solved. *facepalm* Two more of them ordered a day later, so all three are the same. Everything's copacetic.
So, if you want a good adapter, the UGreen Type-C to DP 2.1 adapter (amazon link) is working beautifully for me. Also, it's a really nicely made braided cable, with metal dongle, and tightly packaged, so it's only about half as wide as my old ones.
