I had lots of problems with the name order as the outlook kept on randomly changing the name order (even though i set it to be the same as mac). when i sorted it this would lead to two versions (one mac one and the changed one).
so i fixed it by having all contact names being pasted in the first name section. So the names are still correct (to see and file as) and they are not changed on both systems. (you also have to use one proper list that you doctor and replace it on the computer with outlook on it to over ride all the incorrect contacts).
I understand if you use the contacts for labels or other exterior items then it is not a good fix but I wanted to share this with anyone else who is getting very annoyed with this problem.
