Good on you for posting this, I’m sure someone will find it useful. Just like you will to know that you can film in landscape. Even on the iPhone X.

Hehe I know and I hate portrait filming! The problem was that when turning to landscape the mic of the iPhone wouldn't be centered and maybe could bias one over the other, thats why I chose to film portrait. I'm sorry:)

I could throw in a 13" nTB 2017 model if that would help? What would you like to compare it with? The 13"nTB 2017 vs the 13"2018? Or all 3 machines?

13" 2017 versus the 13" 2018, please :)

I have the 13" 2016 and I believe the sound is identical to the 2017, so that will be just fine for comparison. Again, many thanks for the service you are doing the community here. I am sure many will be very thankful for your inputs that will help their purchase decisions.

Thanks. I'm returning my new 2018 15" MacBook Pro i7 today due to heat/fan issue and random speaker pop and crackle. Support determined it is a hardware issue after running it in safemode when it did not locate the internal speakers or input. Frustrating. Problems right out of the box and July 24 Apple update did not fix heat issue. Helped with throttling. Anyone else having these issues? Debating on goint to the 13", but I need the graphics card that is only in the 15".

I'm running a 15" without any problems. No speaker pops or heat problems.

[doublepost=1533045733][/doublepost]Good to hear ! Do you have any issues playing music or voice? I'm hoping the popping speaker issue is not on every new MacBook Pro 2018. Since I do a lot of audio and video editing it is critical for me. It is not just the internal speakers, when it is popping it is on the external speakers too, so it is a software/hardware problem.

Nope, i play music all day over the MacBooks speakers or headphones and never had any issues.

In my other thread I posted to video's where I compare the 2018 13"base and 2018 15"base model in terms of speakers and heat. These tests are by no means scientific, but maybe they help someone!

Here is the thread and the videos:

Thanks for video of those tests. Try measuring the heat under the case. The bottom of my new 2018 MacBoo Pro 15" gets hot at idle after about 10 - 20 minutes, then heat increased quite a bit running more intensive applications like Adobe Premiere and Audition. It's less heat after the last Apple patch update July 24, 2018, but still gets hot with fan kicking into high spped.
